Hype Model documentation

Model documentation

HYPE is an open source, dynamic and semi-distributed hydrological model integrating fluxes of water, nutrients and other substances. It is developed and maintained by the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI). HYPE is short for HYdrological Predictions for the Environment and we have a wiki that provides documentation for the HYPE Model.

On our wiki page you can find documentation that cover the following topics and more:

  • Hype Model Description: Processes above the ground, land routines, rivers and lakes, nitrogen and phosphorus in land routines, nitrogen and phosphorus in rivers and lakes, water management, deep processes, organic carbon, tracers.
  • HYPE File reference: files for model set up, observation data, output, calibration and water balances
  • Hype Tutorials: quick guide, HYPE set-up tutorials, updating with observation and more.

HYPE Code

The HYPE Model source code is open source and can be downloaded on the sourceforge website.

We are happy to share experience and collaborate world-wide. Please, give us feedback and share your experience! Make your code extensions part of the official code. Join the Forum!
